This is a dream of a vacation home – nestled among Sugar Maple trees as if it had been dropped in gently from above. A 200-year-old maple tree is a wonderful feature beside one of the decks.  In winter, be part of a wonderland. In summer, the trees provide a shady canopy and coolness all day long. The color of the Maple trees in October will take your breath away! Enjoy the private location, wrap-around deck, stone fireplace, and custom handcrafted details.

One of our most appreciated features is the level parking area right at the doorstep! Unusual for a mountain property. A large mudroom/laundry makes it handy to store boots and coats.

Imagine yourself at Nakiska Lodge by viewing the floor plans.  Built in 2004, the owners invite you to enjoy this property as your home in the mountains. There are three bedrooms, a large loft room with a Queen size sofa bed, TV/VCR, and a separate play/exercise room. A sofa bed by the fireplace makes room for extra guests. There are 2 1/2 baths. The bathroom with access to the master bedroom has a steam shower and Jacuzzi. It is also accessible through the laundry/mud room for versatility.

In case of bad weather, there are lots of movies. The two dining tables provide space for games, crafts, and even work. The fully equipped kitchen will tempt you to stay in and enjoy a home atmosphere. Groceries and ready-to-cook meals can be bought nearby. If you forget a simple ingredient, see Joy at nearby Nakiska Chalet B&B. She'll provide you with a cup of sugar or other forgotten items.

Just six miles from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort, and just steps away from your own hiking and cross-country skiing adventure, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Explore the natural mountain area and experience Cass Scenic Railroad, Green Bank Science Center and Radio Observatory, Cranberry Glades Visitor Center, and wonderful hiking and biking trails. Incomparable trout fishing on the legendary Elk River is just minutes away. Our guests often leave planning to come back in another season.

Nakiska Lodge can accommodate up to 12 adults and children. Perfect for families, business retreats, and groups of friends.  In 2008 we'll be hosting artist retreats. Bring a group or join one of our organized groups.  Email for more information.

Because the owner has asthma and is allergic to most dogs and virtually all cats, we can't accommodate pets in the lodge. However, if your pet can sleep in your car or an outdoor kennel (winter excluded), the surrounding area is a great place for their companionship.

Smoke-free facility.      Four-wheel drive or chains available in your trunk are highly recommended in winter.
Kitty litter is a great traction aid on icy roads. Cheap and effective.
